With the SEY already wrapped up the Ipswich club were able to give their new look Youth squad their first match of the season with a team mainly made up from the British U13’s squad as well as giving others riders their first taste of team riding. An agreement between the two clubs to use mainly riders under the age of thirteen proved a great success for both sets of riders gaining valuable experience.

The match started off with a shared heat ,in heat two it was Kesgrave who took the lead with a 6-4 , as just like it’s bred into the Ipswich team they responded in heat three 6-4 to level the match. Two more shared heats followed before in heat six Ipswich scored the first maximum 7-3 ,Kesgrave came straight back fighting in the next heat to score a 7-3 of their own to once again level the scoring. In the last heat before half time the Ipswich side again produced a 7-3 to go in the break four points up and cracking second half looked on the cards.

In the second half it was Ipswich who turned up the heat with some powerful gating and some great team racing. They opened up an unassailable lead as heats 9 and 10 went the way of Ipswich with 7-3 scored in both to open up a twelve point lead , and they protected their advantage with excellent team riding securing shared heats when they had to. By the time it got to heat fifteen Ipswich lead by sixteen points and though Kesgrave did hit back in heat fifteen with a 6-4 to reduce the arrears securing their only success in the half it was left to Ipswich’s Pierce Bacon and Ben Harvey to closed the match out in which they overcome Jay Berry and Evan Vincent 7-3 .

Ipswich gave a first start to Callen Turner who was only riding in his second event having only competed in the BYJL at Hethersett the other week but this his first taste of team riding and around the tight Kesgrave track can be pleased with himself as well as Lisa-Marie Bown who with a little bit more belief in herself shows a lot of promise and both will only get better in time under the guidance of the coaching staff at Ipswich.  The pick of the Ipswich team was Harrison Bacon who rode to an impressive 18 points while Jack Chaplin partnered his older team mate Callen Turner in fine style. For Kesgrave Matt Oakley was always a thorn in the Ipswich side, he was well supported Cormac Repman and Lewis Brinkhoff who’s scores don’t reflect the effort both put in .

Tonight match brings the curtain down for the SEY season with Ipswich remaining unbeaten and continue their impressive run to 22 matches unbeaten since April 2009 .
