Ipswich entertained their Essex neighbours East London last night under the lights at Whitton for this rearranged south east fixture and with a sizeable crowd behind them set about their task in a professional manner. Manager Tony Stant made several changes from the team that beat Norwich last weekend bringing in Jordan Stant , Lauren Jacobs and Barry Copping with several key riders either injured or not available.
With still the painful memory of their defeat at the hands of London earlier in the year the Suffolk outfit were in no mood for a repeat performance and produced another brilliant display of team riding. With every rider sticking to their instructions and slowly wearing the opposition down so this proved , with Ipswich going into the break eight points up and the London boys doing well just to stay in the match .
The second half proved to be one way traffic with the home club turning the heat up to go on and record six heats wins from the remaining nine heats, finally running out winners by twenty eight points.
Pick of the Ipswich team was Leon Mower looking fresh from his summer break and producing the pass of the night – sitting third into the first bend Leon went over the second placed rider and under the first placed rider all in one movement. The attack was well lead by captain Daniel Pike and Jamie Chittock both scoring seventeen plus bonus points ,but all in all a good all-round team performance.
This sets it up for their trip to Norwich in two weeks time which could proved to be the title decider.
