SE1: Ipswich 100 Hethersett 74

The South East champions Ipswich were looking to bounce back after their last outing ended in defeat and ended a twelve match winning streak . Hethersett Hawks were the visitors for today’s meeting also looking to get their own season started ,with the words from their team manager still ringing in their ears the Suffolk club were in no mood to be side tracked again.

Ipswich set a blistering pace by winning the first five heats with three 6-4’s and two 7-3’s to take a commanding position which their opponents couldn’t match ,it was only an exclusion to an Ipswich rider in heat six that finally Hethersett managed to claw back some points . Ipswich went into the break fourteen points up 51 – 37 ,after the break the home team continued to control the match ,though Hethersett did show improvement in the second half.

The home team also welcomed back Marcus Szyszlyk back after a year out, scoring 7+1 from his two rides at nine. Richard Williamson lead by example with a twelve point max from three rides (Richard wanted me to mention this ). There were good performances from the two young guns Roberts and Hill scoring 22 points between them from reserve.

The match was well refereed by Bill Brooke, a big thank you to Bill for stepping in to take charge.
