SE1, Ipswich crown brilliant season

Ipswich entertained Great Blakenham in their last fixture of the season knowing that a win would see them clinch their first ever league title in the SE1. Ipswich named a near full squad for this encounter, only to see their opponents turn up with a weaken squad and only could name a six-man team for the match.

With only Adam Peck and Jason Ashford able to offer resistance it was always going to be one-way traffic with the home team having their most comfortable match of the season. This was shown with both Ipswich’s reserves having five rides and both scoring 15 points each. So a sizeable crowd who came to see a normal ding-dong affair between these bitter rivals were left with an one-sided match in which the home team were never trouble.

So its the Suffolk side who were left to celebrate a great season and a great achievement in clinching the title seeing off the challenge of Norwich and Great Blakenham. The team were led by team captain Dan Pike on the centre green after the match celebrating with a few bottles of champagne.

Ipswich have now won all the domestic leagues this season – SE1, SE2, SE Youth and U14s Fours League to cap off a wonderful season for the club. With all the squad improving every season the future looks bright for the Suffolk club and more titles are sure to come in the near future .
