Eagles at British Cycling annual awards

A night of celebration at the British Cycling annual awards took place last weekend at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel.

With over 500 people in attendance British Cycling President Brian Cookson gave recognition to all six disciplines for their continued growth and applaud the amazing talent we have in British Cycling.

With so many awards to give out it was split into three parts with Ipswich Cycle Speedway club had four representatives.

Ashley Hill was given recognition for winning the Wosskow Brown British Youth & Junior League under 16’s championship.

Lauren Jacobs received special praise as she was unbeaten in all four rounds (qualifying races and Finals) on her way to winning the One 2 Call British Women’s League over 16’s Individual Championships.

Lauren was also part of the regional team that took the British Women’s League inter-region title along with Laura Dale and Danielle Riley. Gemma Hill who was also part of the team was unable to attend the awards ceremony. Also pictured in the team photo are Hethersett duo Carly Grimes (far left) and Tiffany Collins (left).

Unfortunately British Cycling do not invite under 12’s as it is a long awards ceremony starting at 7.30 pm and not finishing until after 11pm.

If this wasn’t the case Ipswich Eagles would have had more to celebrate with Jack Chaplin British under 10’s Champion and Wosskow Brown BY & JL under 10’s Champion and Gemma Hill British Girls Champion, but I’m sure they will have their day in the very near future.
