Ipswich went to Kesgrave to send out a clear and defiant message that they have no intention on giving up on their relentless pursuit of claiming a third title in a row and will take a very good team to stop them, though on paper this could have been a banana skin of a fixture having lost here on their last visit .
Ipswich team were able to make a few changes to the side that won on Sunday at London with young Pierce Bacon coming in as well as Terry Gilbert-Rolfe ,while captain Lauren Jacobs ,Fraser Harris were rested ahead of Sunday match. The Ipswich side also able to leave Charlie Rumbold and Jordan Stant at reserve showing just what strength in-depth the Suffolk side has at its disposal .
The match itself was one sided with Ipswich winning fifteen heats out of the possible sixteen with that being a shared heat so running out convincing winners ,all the pairings looked strong with a pleasing performance from Pierce Bacon and Will Clark both scoring seventeen points apiece. The dream team pairing of Fellgett and Knights didn’t let anyone down rattling off three 7-3’s and a 6-4 in their heats together .
One unlucky rider tonight was Ben Harvey who was due to ride but had to pull out due to illness and will surely figure again in the starting line up before the end of the season , final score 107 – 53 sees Ipswich smash through the thousand points barrier this season.
