2013 Suffolk Show a Success

Wednesday and Thursday this week saw some of the Ipswich Eagles Members help run British Cyclings Go-Ride Cycle Speedway Sessions at the Suffolk Shows Sports Village promoting the Sport, Ipswich Eagles and other Suffolk Clubs with a Suffolk CSA joint leaflet. Over the two day period its estimated that there were in excess of 800 children who tried their hand at the sport for the first time.

Inconjunction with British Cyclings Go-Ride Coach, John Stockwell, Ipswich’s Welfare Officer, Georgina Gilbert-Rolfe, Club Secretary, Dave Hill, and Youth Riders Richard Fellgett and Ashley Hill managed to ‘Cycle’ through the youngsters with great success. Its expected that the Clubs Friday night Beginners and Academy night is going to be busy for the next few weeks after many of the children and their parents exclaimed their joy and excitement at trying the sport for the first time.

Ipswich Eagles success in recent years is owed to attending many events like the Suffolk Show each year and the tireless actions of our volunteers ensures a succession of young riders coming into the sport for years to come. With a busy month of June ahead with no less than three promo days including the Protour event in Ipswich on 14th June and the Hosting of the British U16 Club Championships, we hope a few more people take up the sport we all enjoy.
