Ipswich went in search of a third straight win of the campaign and were to be given a big helping hand with Birmingham conceding a massive 59 penalty points which made their difficult job an impossibility.  So it proved, with the Suffolk side running out comfortable winners by twelve points, 70 – 58 before the added penalty points. England international Chris Timms was looking unbeatable before running out of legs in his eigth heat of the afternoon losing out to the ever-improving Richard Fellgett.
