Thirty-one riders lined up in seven teams for the second round of the Suffolk 4TT’s (Well actually seven Team). Held at Kesgrave in muggy overcast conditions, the event is being run to give young (Teams are made up of 2 x U13’s and 2 x U10 + 1 Reserve of either age where possible) the opportunity to ride as part of a team whilst at this young age not having to try and Team Ride which is what the SE Youth League is for.
With three teams from both Ipswich and Kesgrave and one from Gt. Blakenham and one or two exceptions to the age rule to ensure riders and teams got the chance to ride where they normally wouldn’t, there was some fantastic racing throughout the 28 heats with some good battles and tactics being employed over the 3 lap heats (U10 rules applied).
Pick of the Riders on the night was young Sam Warner (Ips) who picked up only one of two maximums on the night and is absolutely flying at the moment whether it is Individual or team racing. Kane Grimmer (Gt. B) scored the other maximum whilst Jay Berry (Kes) came close dropping his only point to Kane Grimmer in heat 3 and young James Porter (Kes) also looked in good form picking up 13 points
As mentioned before the aim of this event is to get those riders that aren’t normally picked for team events a chance alongside those that do and the teams were pretty even rider wise as can be seen by the scores on the night although commiserations has to go to Ipswich II’s Alex Harvey who surely would have recorded a maximum too if it wasn’t for his bike chucking the chain both times whilst leading, but still managed a smile each time it happened.
A big thank you to Kesgrave Panthers for holding the event at short notice, and to Steve Copping who acted as Ref on the night, and of course a big thank you and well done to all the riders that took part and made it happen.
